Towards the monastery....
Back at the junction of the small plateia and the second half of main street, opposite another of the local bakers (above which is the local radio station)  turning right leads onwards towards the monastery.  This part of the street also contains two very excellent tavernas, Diktina on the right and Argentina on the left; a fresh fish shop; a modern kafenion; the 'Erata' gift shop and the cafe/restaurant  Plaza.  The street ends at a small plateia facing the sea and what will be the new harbour and maybe a small marina when work is complete.

Taverna Diktina Taverna Diktina. Dyktinna, Kolimbari, Chania, Crete.
Taverna Agentina. Argendina, Kolimbari, Chana, Crete. Taverna Argentina
Just past Argentina on the left is the Erata Gift shop.  Rania, the owner speaks fluent English, always seems to have a big smile; a good selection of gifts and the best postcards for miles.  The cafe bar Plaza is the last hostelry on the street and has an excellent location and tables on the right of the small plateia overlooking the harbour.  Good for a drink or a snack before heading on for the monastery and all points upward to the Rodopos peninsula.  Or watching the new harbour being constructed.
